Russia’s Federal Agency for Tourism may blacklist Bulgarian hotels

Bulgarian hotels might be blacklisted, Russia’s Federal Agency for Tourism head Alexander Radkov said in an interview with Gazeta.ru.
“Tour operators will keep on going bankrupt. This is a business and we cannot prevent bankruptcies on the market. What is most important to the state is to set up mechanisms to protect tourists’ rights,” said Radkov.
He added that an association of tourist assistance had already been established. He also reminds of Russian tourists’ problems in Bulgaria this summer.
“Unfortunately, in many of the cases foreign hotels did not give proper treatment – there were cases of asking money in Bulgaria. The tourists were offered to pay their stay for a second time; they were threatened and warned that they would be included in invented blacklists and there was psychological pressure. We already have experience in blacklisting hotels that infringe on Russian tourists’ rights. We will continue this practice and advise tour operators not to work with these hotels,” he added.
