10 travel tips for traveling to Barcelona
29 March 2013 by Unknown
Barcelona is a very well-known city and it's common knowledge that it's a very touristic city. From attractions to local events of international importance, millions of tourists flock to Barcelona every year. So how can you make the most out of your trip to this wonderful city? Here are ten tips to get you started.
1.Rent some of the Barcelona accommodation on offer in the exampled district of Barcelona. it's simply the best district to stay in, luxurious, centric, and with many great shops, restaurants, and attractions near by. It's also well connected with the rest of the city via public transport.
2. Avoid the restaurants along Passeig de Gracia. Although some are actually quite good, the most expensive restaurants in the city can be found along here, and the quality isn't always worth what you pay either. It's a touristic area, so there is sort of a "tourist tax" for eating at these restaurants. The same applies for restaurants along Las Ramblas.
3. Visit less touristic zones. There are other parts of Barcelona, like Poble Nou, Sarria, Pedralbes, and Gracia, that are all worth visiting. Do some research on what there is to see in these areas and you can escape the beating track during your holiday in Barcelona. Discover the real Barcelona!
4. Don't miss a visit to the Boqueria Market. The guides aren't lying; this market is a wonderful and precious site which you really shouldn't miss out on visiting.
5. Get around via Metro. The metro of barcelona works very well, it's fast and is easily the cheapest option to navigate the city, especially if you buy a T10 ticket.
6. Stay conscious of your belonging in the most crowded areas. It's shocking that it happens, but it does. In Barcelona there are many pickpockets and as a tourist you are the prime target for these people. As a rule of thumb, trust nobody asking for your aid as it's most likely a scam, and always keep aware of your belongings, otherwise they may go missing.
7. Take a stroll down the port of Barcelona, it's beautiful during both summer and winter, and it's a treat to walk by whilst contemplating staring out into the sea and the admiring the marina.
8. Visit the Sagrada Familia, because you haven't been to Barcelona if you don't. This basilica is the landmark of the city and is the most visited location in Spain, it's an absolutely breathtakingly beautiful experience from within.
9. Try contacting a local. By contacting a local you can see Barcelona from a completely new perspective, learning things you wouldn't have before, and finding it much easier to ask for help in shops and restaurants.
10. Don't leave you camera at home. One thing you absolutely cannot do is leave you camera at home! Barcelona tourism is based around the quirky, interesting, and unique, by leaving your camera at home, you'll be missing out on documenting these moments forever.
